ATN Member Speaks at Congressional Briefing on ASD

On Tuesday, September 16, 2014, the AAP co-sponsored a briefing on autism spectrum disorder with the Congressional Children’s Health Care Caucus, the Congressional Autism Caucus, Family Voices, and the Children’s Hospital Association. The briefing titled, “The Future of Autism: Breakthroughs in Research, Diagnostics and Intervention,” featured several panelists including ATN member Susan E. Levy, MD, MPH, FAAP, acting chief of the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. During her remarks, Dr. Levy discussed the prevalence of ASD and the need for early diagnosis and access to care. In addition, Dr. Levy spoke to the importance of the Autism CARES Act in improving coordination among federal agencies to address ASD.
